Job Responsibilities :
The Database Administrator will be responsible for technical management and coordination of issues and projects primarily involving installation, configuration and on-going administration of Oracle,
SQL Server Databases and Microsoft Server operating systems, and will actively participate in the resolution of systems issues. He/She will work closely with other team members to provide understanding across all components of the database environments.
The database administrator will also be involved with recommendations for project management, design and planning within these areas, and provide DBA support for the Oracle, SQL Server development teams.
Strong communication and presentation skills are essential. Building a relationship with the Engineering team, requirements gathering and performing testing of any new database configurations is crucial. The person will also assume the responsibility for Level 2 & 3 support for all database platforms. Additional responsibilities include:
Understanding and ability to support host OS platforms such as Windows Server and or Solaris.
Design and planning of security and auditing, set-up and monitoring SQL Server environments, including the assessment of needs and recommend solutions.
Ongoing proactive assessment and installation of latest database maintenance patches / upgrades, including sourcing and evaluating new products that may add value to the business.
Remain up to date with the latest technology developments, industry trends and initiatives.
Installation of new Business Application releases to the Development, Test and Production environments.
Skills:
Any Graduate in computer science or related field required.
At least 2-3 years experience of Oracle & SQL Server database administration (Oracle 9i / 10g, Sybase 12.x, SQL Server 2000 / 2005), Unix operating system (Sun 8/9/10, HP UX) and Microsoft systems administration (Windows Server 2000 / 2003).
Extensive knowledge of Windows Enterprise Server 2000 - 2008 and MS & SQL Clustering
Strong knowledge of SAN technologies, with an emphasis on Storage and Database replication solutions
Knowledge of DB & SQL capacity planning and utilization techniques
Extensive SQL Knowledge and Scripting
Experience integrating and deploying multiple database platforms.
