The Directorate of Distance Education of Mother Teresa Women s
University was started in 1988 at Kodaikanal. Its mission is to empower
women through education, especially women who for some reason are
deprived of studying through the regular mode.
We aim to extend not only equal but equitable opportunities of education to
women who desire the privilege of higher education, to be pursued at their
own place and time, simultaneously with the demand of a job or domestic
